Is Your Mouth Saved?

Is your mouth saved?

Ephesians 4:29 says, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

When we’re walking with Jesus, the Holy Spirit in us leads us toward doing the right thing. You ever feel that little tug when you’ve done or said something wrong? That’s the Holy Spirit giving gentle conviction so we can make it right. The closer you get to God the more you start talking like Him.

We know that God loves us more than we can even fathom! But the same goes for other people too! God doesn’t look at Susan and think, “Oh my gosh, she’s so annoying!” And then tell the angels, “she won’t stop bugging me!” God looks at each of us as amazing, wonderful and beautiful. God thinks, “Wow! I’m so proud of Susan!” And He probably tells the angels, “Look how good she’s doing!” And when we’re walking closely with God, we talk like Him and see other people like He does.

You reap what you sow. It all comes back around.

So use your mouth to be a blessing to people instead of using it as a weapon to tear people down.

We are all God’s children and He made us all special and unique – not one of us is better than anyone else. So before speaking about someone else’s faults – look at yourself. Would you want someone talking bad about you? Would you want God to talk about you the way you talk about others? If the answer is no, take a step back and ask God to forgive your words.
